Announcing BracketBot: Manage Your NCAA Tournament Bracket In Slack

Posted by Rob May on Mar 2, 2017 2:39:48 PM

I love basketball and, as a University of Kentucky graduate, March Madness is the best time of the year. In fact, at Backupify (my last company) and Talla, the first two days of the NCAA basketball tournament are official company holidays. (Also, we’re hiring!)

Every year I’ve participated in several NCAA tournament bracket contests, often at work, and so this year, given our involvement with Slack, it made sense to build a bot to manage our brackets. Today I want to unveil BracketBot.

BracketBot is a simple bot in Slack that allows you to set up an office March Madness pool, choose your bracket, and monitor the results. Below are some screenshots of how BracketBot works.

Selection Sunday is 12 days away. If you install BracketBot now on Slack, you can start inviting people to participate in your office pool. Once the teams are announced on March 12th, BracketBot will prompt you to fill in your bracket, and walk you through the process. You’ll also get final score updates, and performance updates on how your bracket is performing.

BracketBot highlights how certain types of work are done more easily in Slack, so if you don’t use Slack today, we hope you will try it out so you can try BracketBot. Good luck in your picks, and Go Wildcats!

If you are already on Slack, you can install using the button below.
