Screen Shot 2018-10-09 at 3.38.13 PMThis is the second in a series of Talla customer spotlights highlighting the real ways that companies are using AI, chatbots, and automation to make their employees more productive and increase engagement. We recently interviewed rLoop’s Co-Founder and Project Manager Brent Lessard to learn more about how they use Talla.

rLoop’s vision is a big one: to redefine transportation using Hyperloop technology. If you’re not familiar with Hyperloop already, it is a new, and incredibly fast, way to transport people to where they want to be. It’s more convenient than a train and faster than a plane. The rLoop team consists of over 1,300 people located across the globe. Being able to collaborate effectively and have access to accurate information on systems, processes, and progress is imperative to the team’s success.

We spoke with rLoop Co-Founder and Project Manager Brent Lessard about how he keeps team members engaged and continually contributing to the success of the project. He tells us, “Over the past three years we have strived to adopt the best tools to facilitate work within our community, as well as constantly refined our method for motivating and mobilizing our collaborators. We have consistently found that the quicker an individual is made familiar with our culture and given opportunity to collaborate, the higher the engagement rate.”

Given that their team is spread across the globe, onboarding team members can be a challenging problem. Timezones are a constant issue and mean that team members often times aren’t online at the same hours. Having to wait for information slows down progress and productivity, which is why rLoop uses Talla to onboard new employees, introduce them to new projects, and get them set up on the tools they need immediately.

Brent says, “We began using Talla as a trial to simplify much of the onboarding process and to separate aspects that didn’t require human involvement. It didn’t take long for us to roll it out across the board, with a measurable increase in new user engagement and decreased need for human intervention. We were also able to track the progress of individuals through onboarding to see where improvements could be made, as well as to receive feedback immediately at the conclusion which helped identify optimization points. We could also tailor the experience to a new user based on their identified goals and motivations, such that Talla would direct them towards appropriate teams and provide new users a familiar culture within our organization.”

They use Talla not only as their internal knowledge base, but also for polling, gathering feedback, making announcements, and handling retrospectives. When team members have a question on a project, they simply ask Talla. If Talla doesn’t already have an answer, then it’ll automatically kick off a workflow to find the answer, add that information to the knowledge base, and notify the person that originally asked the question.

“AI has played an important role for us in increasing user engagement, tracking and optimizing the onboarding process, and quickly and easily disseminating our culture and values,” continues Brent. “Staying at the forefront of collaborative technology is integral to our success, and we know integrating artificial intelligence with our HR team will continue to play an important role at rLoop.”

At Talla, we love hearing how our customers are using our product to increase employee engagement and be more productive. You can learn more about rLoop and how they use Talla here.
